Claire L Hodder

After graduating from Manchester University in 1993 Claire worked at Michael Hyde and Associates, on residential and commercial projects. Claire joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 1997, where projects included Humberside Magistrates Courts PFI, and Boulevard Estate, Halewood. Claire was Project Architect for Medeva’s £25 million office, production and warehouse facility.
Moving to Aedas in 2000 as an Associate in the Transportation team, Claire worked on Manchester Airport projects including the T1, T2 and infrastructure masterplan to 2015, GTI (Ground Transport Interchange), which involved extending the existing heavy rail station, providing new platforms for light rail (Metrolink) and the construction of a new bus station with 100,000 sq ft of office accommodation above.
Claire was Project Architect for GMPTE’s £3 million Hyde Bus Station and was also involved in the Manchester Metrolink Phase 3 project. This involved looking at numerous disused heavy rail stations with the view to refurbishing the buildings for reuse as Metrolink stations, with improved access to platform level in line with DDA requirements. In order to carry out this work Claire undertook PTS training to meet Health and Safety requirements for working on or adjacent to live heavy rail lines.
Since joining Hodder Associates in 2005, Claire has taken on Practice wide responsibilities including Quality Assurance, the preparation of OJEU submissions and areas of Practice and Financial management.
During the Victoria Station competition, Claire liaised with Network Rail who assessed their detailed requirements in order to maximise the potential benefits of altering pedestrian flows by the reconfiguration of the station layout and over bridges.
In 2008 Claire became Managing Director of the newly incorporated Hodder and Partners.
Claire has worked on a range of other Hodder + Partners projects including Hathershaw Community Centre and Chapel Wharf. Claire has also been involved in the preparation of numerous sketch scheme designs for residential and hotel projects. Claire is currently working on the Tynemouth Station project, progressing the scheme design to planning stage.
